Glass Stove Tops

Have you ever wondered how the pros do such a great job on cleaning your stove top oven?  Many clients take the time to by specific cleaning products for there stove tops and in our experience they work decent but have disadvantages.  The major disadvantage is the chemical is only good for that one specific purpose.  Let me be the first to spill the beans on how us pros do it.  The cleaning tools you will need are as follows:

  • Degreaser
  • Scour Sponge
  • Microfiber Cloth
  • Razor Blade
  • Glass Cleaner
  • Paper Towel

For a degreaser we recommend Grease Lightening which can be found at any dollar store.  It is an awesome product and works miracles on more than just stove tops.  The chemical can actually remove the dirt grime from your car engine.  If you do not have any available Liquid Dawn dish detergent is a great substitute.

Step 1:

Spray an abundant amount of degreaser and use the soft sponge side of  your scour pad.  Some stoves have a galvanized material like your pots that if scratched the damage is permanent so only use the soft side.  In most instances this galvanized material is not on glass stove tops.  However our cleaning technicians are trained to only used the soft sponge on all stove tops no matter what material they may be cleaning.  The degreaser is strong enough to loosen up the dirt and food spills so that even a soft cloth could remove the dirty substances.

Step 2:

Wipe away all debris with a microfiber cloth.

Step 3:

You will always notice a ring around the eye of the stove, especially they eye you use the most.  For this hard stuck on debris we use a straight edge razor blade.  It does require a little skill but done properly you can scrap the glass clean.  The beauty of using a blade instead of a specific cleaner is that the blade works well for cleaning your inside oven door and other glass surfaces in the home.  Eliminating the need for 3 or 4 different special cleaning solutions.

Step 4:

Most stop tops are colored black to help hide dirt.  The problem is that when you clean the you leave smear marks and visible lent.  The easy solution is that any glass cleaner and a paper towel will leave a smooth shine with out the smear marks and lent. Be sure to wipe in on direction and completely off the surface with ever stroke.
